I can't copy and paste the report but maybe later I will type it out. The phone call to Joan Andrews (Marilyn's aunt) from Marty 3 days after the murders is strange. Joan said Marty had never called her before but began to tell her that Marilyn had not called her because Justin had been staying at some people's house that had been beaten to death. She was worried about Marilyn and the kids so she called the police.
If you read the report you will understand that about a month before the murders (around March 13) Joan had called Marilyn because the bank had called Joan in reference to the red pinto that Joan had co-signed with Marty and Marilyn to buy. Joan said the bank said they had not been making their payments and wanted her to start making the payments so she called Marilyn. Marilyn's excuse to her was that Marty was in a mental institution.
So it's not surprising that Marty called Joan on April 15 (about a month after Joan called Marilyn) and told her of the murders in Keddie. He knew that she wanted them to make the payment on the car (this was their only vehicle) and he probably hoped that would stall her.
Having no job, no car, and no place to stay (after May 1), is probably the reason he was more than ready to pull some scams with Bo.

Niiiiiiiiiice work. But again, I'm not sure Marty even knew (at that time, anyway) that Bo WAS a "con artist." How would he know? Why would Bo tell him?
Also, it's good to remind ourselves that Marty had quite a few reasons to skip town (and even the state) besides just being a "suspect" in a multiple homicide. Let's review some points you've made elsewhere:
1. Marty and Bo did NOT exactly "go into hiding." They told police--TRUTHFULLY--where they were headed next, and when police tried to contact Marty later, there he was. Right where he said he would be.
2. He had a LOT of reasons for leaving Keddie and NONE for staying (Jebus--who DID have a reason to STAY in Keddie???)
3. If he and Bo were "being protected" by CALIFORNIA law enforcement, then LEAVING California for Oregon would have been STUPID.
Now, you raise an interesting question: Why didn't MARYLIN call her aunt Joan in Burney Falls? Before, or after the murders? Okay, she didn't call before, because she owed Joan money. Why not AFTER? And if Marty has to take it upon himself to call Joan (and therefore, the rest of Marylin's "family") and tell them the awful news of what happened to Justin, then how does that make him "guilty" of murder?

So true Tom! As for scamming I can only say that Marty nor Bo had a job. Marty went on to work with the carnival (according to a source close to Marilyn, who posted on 28, said Marty and Marilyn met while he was working with the carnival in Oregon). So making these "maps", or whatever "sales campaign" they were going to do, was more than likely for fast money - and possibly something they discussed while in the VA Hospital. One of Marty AND Marilyn's first big scams (besides leaving Aunt Joan hanging with the pinto) was sending him to the VA Hospital in an attempt to be diagnosed with PTSD. I don't know if Marty and Bo had known each other previously.
Bo/Crim and Bradley Interview:
Boubede: Uh, yes. Uh, well, see, I had known Marty, uh, prior to his marrying uh, Marilyn. Uh, and, uh, I had Marty interested in putting out a map for Keddie and, uh, for Quincy and East Quincy. And , uh, we went to the, umm, Chamber of Commerce and, uh, they set up for us to meet them on the 28th of this month, uh, to present our map and, uh, our presentation. And then, uh, this thing came up in Klamath Falls and I said, "well, fine, we'll take that, if you like." And then, uh, with Marilyn becoming so upset and, uh, Justin becoming so upset. We supposed, if she don't mind, uh, if you'd go down, and, uh, I'll be down, uh, Monday morning.
PCSO Report of Interview with Dee Lake 4-22-81:
FRB April 1, 1981 edition we found this:
An organization identified as "Law Enforcement Report" has been soliciting donations for advertisements in a "CHP Yearbook" or "CHP Journal". Both are non existent publications.
In Shasta and Tehama counties solicitations have been made by phone and in at least one instance the caller identified himself as a CHP sergeant
The article ended with this:
Citizens receiving calls should notify their nearest CHP office.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice work. I had assumed that maybe Marty/Bo had made a sale or two in Quincy, but maybe not. Now I'm even MORE curious as to where they got 20 bucks to blow that night...

I don't know anything about Marty's children or if they all stayed with their mother when he left them but what I do know is regardless of how many he had he referred to his "4" children at the beginning of the letter. The love letter is only about how he had treated Marilyn's kids better than she had treated his and he had given up his kids for her love but now she had left him because he was jealous of her but for what he had given up (his kids) he should be jealous. No doubt he was resentful of what he had done for her - yet he still wanted her back.
It is a gigantic stretch to say the letter was about murder because neither Sue, Johnny, Tina, or Dana were his "flesh and blood" nor "four of the most precious things in his life".

It also feels like Marty may have been using the incident to buy some time re the car loan. Playing up the family crisis, etc.
